The two rules that matter most
Sand stays outside. Only paper goes down the toilet.

The beach is a minute away and it comes home with you: in towels, in shoes, in the children. Brush it off before you step inside. Rinse feet, shoes, boards and toys outside, shake towels outside, and hang wet things on the terrace, not in the bedrooms.
On top of the normal end-of-stay clean, taken off the breakage deposit. Sand in the beds, the couches, the shower drains and the floors is a full second clean, and that is what it costs.
The
drains.
The toilets run on a French drain, not a municipal sewer. It is a living system in the ground, and two things kill it: strong chemicals, and anything that is not toilet paper.
- No bleach, drain cleaner or toilet blocks. Toilet paper and the mild cleaners we leave in the house, nothing else.
- Nothing foreign down any toilet. No wipes, even the “flushable” ones, no sanitary products, nappies, cotton buds, condoms, food or fat. Use the bin.
- If a toilet slows or backs up, tell us the same day. Caught early it is a plumber; left for a week it is a dug-up garden.
Charged at the plumber’s invoice, from the deposit first and invoiced beyond it. This is the one repair on the property that can run into thousands, which is why it sits next to sand at the top of the page.

Be open about damages and we will be fair about them.
A glass, a chair, a mark on a wall: it happens in every house, including ours. Tell us when it happens, or at the latest when you leave, and we settle it at the real cost of putting it right, from the R2 000 breakage deposit. What we are strict about is finding it ourselves afterwards. Anything discovered after checkout that was not mentioned is charged in full, and it is the reason a deposit exists.

Stating the obvious
Four things that are not allowed, because they are where the damage comes from.
No house parties
Guests who are sleeping here are the guests. If more people are in the house than the booking sleeps, the booking ends that day, without a refund.
No bachelor or bachelorette groups
Nothing personal. They are where the serious damage comes from, and the neighbours live here all year.
No pets
None, however small or well behaved. Hair, sand and claws on the couches and the beds are the same second clean as the sand rule.
No smoking
Not indoors, not on the terrace under the roof. Smoke in the curtains and couches is a professional clean, and it comes off the deposit.

Arriving and leaving
- Check in from 14:00, check out by 10:00
- A host meets you at the house; arrival times are flexible, just tell us
- Seven-night minimum in December and January, Saturday to Saturday
Who may stay
- 5 in the top unit, 6 in the bottom unit, 11 in the whole house. Not one more, including on the couches
- Each unit is a private home. Book the whole house if you want the building to yourselves
- No pets
Living here
- Quiet after 22:00. The houses on Kusweg are close together and people who live here get up early
- Doors and windows closed when you go out. Salt air and a sudden south-easter do real damage inside
- The braai is indoors in the top unit: ash cold and in the bin, never on the terrace in the wind
Kitchens and washing
- Leave both kitchens as you found them: dishes done, fridge emptied, bins out
- Washing machine and tumble dryer are yours to use; shake the sand out first
- Use the cleaning products we leave in the house. They are the septic-safe ones; please do not bring bleach or drain cleaner in
Power, water and the ocean
- Solar backup keeps the essentials running through load-shedding
- Water is safe to drink from the tap
- There is no lifeguard on this beach. Small children swim in the tidal pools, not in the surf
Money
- 50% deposit confirms, balance 30 days before arrival, by EFT
- R2 000 breakage deposit, returned once the house has been checked over
- Extra cleaning for sand: R750. Drain cleared or dug out: at cost. Smoke: at cost. Damage told to us: at cost. Damage found by us: in full
Everything above is either visible in the photographs on this site or confirmed by the owners. If something matters to your stay and it is not here, ask rather than assume. We answer the same day.

You read this, you agree to it.
We send this page with the booking confirmation and again the week before you arrive. Paying the balance counts as agreeing to it. If anything here does not work for your group, tell us before you pay and we will either sort it out or refund the deposit.
